JUNIORS MANDATORY MME/ACT PRETEST
•    March 4, 2-3:30: MANDATORY MME PRETEST SESSION. All juniors must attend to fill out their answer documents in preparation for next weeks MME.

•     IF YOU HAVE A LUNCH FORUM, meet Cherie in room # 222 during lunch, to fill out your answer documents.

PLAN TEST
•    Sophomores next Tuesday March 9th you will be taking the PLAN TEST.  There is a math component and IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN CALCULATOR, PLEASE BRING IT. Also, you will have a 15 minute break, so if you want a snack, bring something from home. There will be some granola bars and water available as well.

10th GRADE  PLAN INFO
On Tuesday, March 9th when the 11th graders are taking the ACT test, all 10th graders will take the PLAN test from 7:50 - 12:00 Noon.
The PLAN is a college readiness test similar to the ACT, that helps students measure their current academic development, explore career/training options, and make plans for the remaining years of high school and post-graduation years.

We are giving you information today in Forum to help you undertstand what the PLAN test is about, it also contains some tips for now to do your best.

 If you have questions about the tests, pleaes talk with Diane or Cherie.
Do You Have Talent?
•    Chances are, the answer is “Yes.”  Do you want to showcase this talent?  If the answer is still “Yes” it sounds like you would be a perfect fit for the CET Benefit Show!  You can sing!  You can dance!  Or play an instrument, or do a scene, or any number of performances, whether solo or in a group!

•    If you are interested in being a part of the CET Benefit Show, the audition dates are this Thursday and Friday after school.  See Phil Walker or a CET board member to reserve your spot.  For more information, contact Jon Darga (jmd2225@yahoo.com).  The CET Benefit Show will take place on the evening of Saturday, March 27th.  There will be a short dress rehearsal the previous night, March 26th.
Forum Council Meeting
•    Forum Council's next meeting is TODAY March 4 during Block 6.  It will meet in Room #213.
Free Verse
•    Free Verse is on a short turn around time this semester.  Signs reminding you to submit will go up on Wednesday, and we welcome your submissions until Friday, March 12th.  Please submit short stories, poems, cartoons, art work (black and white or color), and photos ASAP. Judith is eager for as many submissions as possible in this short time.  PLEASE SUBMIT TO JUDITH IN ROOM 303!
Cosmetology Program
Applications for the AAPS Cosmetology Program are available in the Counseling Office and are due around May 1.  This 2-year certification program allows CHS grads to have practicing license in the field, and at no cost!  See John or Diane for more information.
Youth Senate
•    ANNUAL BENEFIT DANCE - Have fun AND fight poverty in Africa! Come to the Africa Project's annual ALL-high schools dance, "The Benefit," Saturday March 13th 8:00 to 11:00. Tickets will be available next week during lunch for $15 until March 12th and at the door at the Michigan Union.

BONEYARD OPEN AFTER FORUM FOR E2020
•    On Tuesdays and Thursdays, there will be a math teacher available in the Boneyard after forum to offer math and technical support for any students working on E2020 coursework. All students working on E2020 are encouraged to come down  to the lab from 3:00 to 4:00 on Tuesdays and 2:30 to 3:30 on Thursdays."

Poetry Slam at CHS
•    Last year Community High took back its slam.  Blythe Moreland, Paul Princen, Jack O'Connell, Hilary Burch, Alia Perscio-Shammas, Jacob Garber, Mira Fishman, Glenna Benitez, Sydney Loomis, and many other CHS students not only filled the Craft Theatre, but dominated the Ann Arbor team with more finalists than any other school.  The Community High Poetry Slam is on Friday, March 12th in the Craft Theatre.  Sign up to read with Judith, Tracy, or Ellen.  After Friday, March 5, PHS, HHS, and SHS students can sign up for our slam.  Guarantee your spot now!  Help CHS hold onto our slam.
GET A JOB 101
•    Saturday, March 6th at  1:00-3:00 PM in the Downtown Multipurpose Room,  Grades 9-12.  Looking for that first job?  Get inspired by keynote speakers from Michigan Works and the AADL Human Resources Department.  Then move around and pick up tips on completing applications, putting together a resume, and acing the interview.  Learn about creating your own job/business from teens involved with Business Side of Youth.  Work alternatives?  Teens from the Youth Empowerment Project will talk about volunteering opportunities and how it can improve your chances of employment. This event is co-sponsored by Washtenaw Youth Mentoring Coalition and Ann Arbor District Library.
SUMMER OPPORTUNITY
•    Do you want to spend your summer biking the French Countryside, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, camping with the Hill Tribes of Thailand, learning about the Slow Foods Movement in Italy, living with Mexican coffee farmers exploring sustainable development and fair trade, or contributing to a community service project in Ghana?  Monday, March 8th at lunch a representative from the Experiment in International Living will be here to answer questions about summer abroad opportunities.  Every year, over a thousand students from across the U.S. spend their summer exploring the richness of other cultures.  The Experiment offers 3 - 5 week programs, in 28 countries in Africa, The Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Programs may include homestay, ecological adventure, the study of art, peace studies, community service, intensive language training and travel.  Please stop by on Monday to find out more.
Home Building Program
•    APPLICATIONS and brochures for the AAPS Student Home Building Program for 2010/11 juniors and seniors are now available in the Counseling Office. The application deadline is Wed, March 24th. Complete the application and turn it in to either John or Diane.
